Do your attendees need yet another conference bag or tschotcke to take home with them or worse yet, to throw away? This presents some unique challenges for event planners on one side – to take into consideration things like fair trade, materials use, transportation, etc., and on the other side, for venues to understand where these materials are coming from, what they are made of (not always readily apparent), and how they can be safely disposed of, or even if they can be disposed of based on local regulations.

This session will take a look at all of the considerations that go into deciding whether you need promotional items, making sure that the ones you do have meet your sustainability objectives and ethics and whether this whole area could be rethought to be completely sustainable and still meet sponsor and attendee expectations.

By attending this session participants will be able to:
• Identify the range of options in sustainable promotional items and giveaways that are within budget
• Determine which questions to ask vendors to engage them to provide sustainable promotional items.
• Evaluate the implications behind the production of promotional items and what this means for your events.
