Meeting facilities can become far more sustainable – and, often, more affordable – at every stage in their life cycle. Facilities that meet or exceed the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design TM (LEED) certification can deliver major reductions in the energy, water, and materials they consume, and in the carbon and other waste they generate. LEED and a number of other standards also provide a framework for operating buildings more sustainably. But meeting professionals are not building managers, and it’s often a challenge to focus on the facility where a meeting takes place when the meeting itself demands attention.

By attending this session participants will learn to:
• Identify the elements of smart building design that should be visible in any sustainable facility
• Evaluate sustainable practices that meeting professionals can reasonably expect from a green meeting venue
• Select the best practices that planners and suppliers can use to integrate green building practices with any meeting
